Origin of masses

Origin of masses

Workshop funded through NORDITA-sponsored Nordic Project Fundamental Constituents of Matter and NorFA, organized by Dates: June 19-22, 1996 (right after the Helsinki conference Neutrino '96). For travel and accommodation information, see below.

The workshop will focus on mass generation in the electroweak theory, and neutrino masses. Attendance is by invitation only, and will be limited to about 20-30 persons, mostly from the Nordic and Baltic countries. If you are interested in attending, please contact Per.Osland@fi.uib.no or one of the other organizers. Doctoral-degree students are particularly encouraged to apply! We expect to be able to cover travel and living expenses for most participants.

A few more senior scientists from outside the Nordic-Baltic region will also attend.

Conference bus

The conference bus will be waiting for the participants on June 19 at 16.50 - 17.00 at Hotel "Viru" in the very center of Tallinn. Next to this 22-storey building there is a parking where excursion buses usually stop. Our bus will carry a little poster with the name of our Workshop.

Then the bus goes to Tallinn airport. It will leave Tallinn airport after the arrival of the 16.40 plane from Helsinki (about 17.30).

If you miss the conference bus, there are also a lot of public express buses from Tallinn Bus Station to Tartu (a ticket costs 66 EEK):
17.50 - 20.30
19.00 - 22.10
19.50 - 22.30
21.00 - 00.05
23.20 - 02.15 - from Tallinn harbour to Tartu

After arrival to Tartu the bus leaves those who live in "Mai" in their hotel, goes with the others to Barclay and then returns to Mai and drives those living there to Barclay for a meal at 21.00.

There will be a conference bus taking us back to Tallinn, on Saturday or on Sunday, according to the wish of the majority. (Possibly even one bus each day, but this will be decided on later.)

There are also a lot of express buses which stop at the very door of Tallinn airport if asked (the airport is at Tartu highway). For arriving to Tallinn harbour from the bus station tram No 2 can be taken.
Express buses from Tartu to Tallinn:
 6.40 - 9.20 (not on Sunday)
 7.50 - 10.30
 8.10 - 10.40
