Poststructuralism
(Re)Visited
a TBLR/Bergen PhD-researcher training course
held at the Univ. of Bergen
18th and 19th of June 2012.
Our invitation to the participants to submit course
evaluations
has as of 17th August 2012 led to the following comments
submitted:
I very much liked the format (first day themed,
with visiting speakers;
second
day focussed on graduate work).
My only further comment would be: encourage more
graduates
to
submit work for discussion, given how rare it is to get such an opportunity.
The introduction of the guest-lectures by
PhD-candidates was very
successful
and rewarding both for the one who carefully prepared the
introduction
and those having the pleasure getting a guest-lecturer
appropriately
introduced. Additionally, such an introduction gives the
guest-scholar
the respectful attention he/she deserves.
Commentary to guest-lectures by PhD-candidates was
well done and
useful
(as always is a second perspective).
Next time, I would like to have the lecture-paper
beforehand, or at
least
afterwards (or did I miss it?!).
The seminar had a very specific topic, two paper
formats were
accepted:
either course-specific, or simply related to the
dissertation
of the PhD-candidate (not specific to the topic of the
seminar).
For the future, if a paper presentation is specific to a
particular
topic, I would appreciate it, if it was briefly
positioned/contextualized
to the seminar's theme (a paragraph long or
so;
as a requirement). I think that such a reflection would be useful
to
both the presenter and the audience – and would (also didactically
if
we want) help to keep track of a seminar's topic. To those new to a
particular
topic, it could be of use to understand how different
research
problems&questions are related to a particular theme (think
of
the soon to be PhD-students attending a course like this...maybe it
would
be useful to access beforehand the status of course-participants
in
order to also address their needs).
All in all, I was a delighted participant of the
course and thank TBLR
for
the opportunity for sharing my feedback.
