FRISP Workshop 2006

20th International FRISP - Workshop in Cambridge, UK
21-22 June 2006

The 20th International Workshop of the Forum for Research into Ice Shelf Processes was held on 21-22 June 2006 at the British Antarctic Survey, Cambridge, UK. Keith Nicholls and Adrian Jenkins hosted the meeting, and the socials included a dinner at Selwyn College and a less formal pub-night.

FRISP continues its circumpolar broader focus, and also report on activity upstream on the glaciers to some extent. The meeting naturally had many english attendands, and much of the BAS acticity on the Antarctic Peninsula was reported on. The future plans session covered a variety of the International Polar Year (IPY) plans, and the idea of having a joint meeting with the West Antarctic Ice Sheet Inititative (WAIS) during the IPY was born.

Adrian Jenkins will continue as chairman, and a last set of reports will be printed by the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research (BCCR), both the new Report No 17 covering the 2005 and 2006 meetings, and the much delayed Report No 14, covering the 2000 and 2002 Workshops. University of Bergen continue to host the FRISP web pages (www.gfi.uib.no/frisp). CRYOLIST will still be used to spread information in the FRISP comunity.

Lars H. Smedsrud

Presentations that were submitted after the workshop can be found in  FRISP Report No 17.
The printed report will be handed out at upcoming meetings, and may also be printed off the www pages from the link above.
